RHENOSTERHOEK PRIVATE BUSH CAMP

 Rhenosterhoek is a 350 hectare working farm with Bonsmara Cattle, a Chicken Hotel for the free range chickens and some game such as kudu, impala, warthogs etc.

A few short hiking trails are marked out and may be combined in a continuous route of approximately 12 kilometres.

This back-to-basic private bush camp is the ideal place to unwind for a few days. It is situated on the farm Rhenosterhoek in the transitional zone of the UNESCO registered Magaliesberg Biosphere, a mere 30 kilometres south of Rustenburg.

This breakaway can provide the ideal opportunity to spend quality time with the family or friends. It can be the chance to set up camp from scratch with the kids’ help, or just move in, if our tents are already rigged. Reservation for the Rhenosterhoek Private Bush Camp must be for a minimum of 2 night stay.

You can either bring all your own sophisticated camping gear or make use of the basics we have available.

 Camp description:

• Basic outdoor kitchenette with a basin, cutlery and crockery for 8 people, black pots and wooden cutting boards, gas plate and a wood-burning outdoor stove,
• Small bathroom with toilet, basin, shower and gas geyser as well as an outdoor bath tub with a view;
• 12 volt battery powered lights (no electricity);
• Chairs and tables on site available;
• Boma / Braai area;
• One bundle of firewood (more available at R 30.00 per bundle);
• Water from borehole and dam for general use
• 15 L drinking water
• A gas bar fridge to preserve milk + margarine
• NOTE: A 4x4 vehicle is highly recommended to drive to the private bush camp. Parking is available at the camp site. No housekeeping, Wi-Fi and swimming pool available. There is limited cell phone network / connection available. This campsite is not pet-friendly or wheelchair-friendly.

The camp site has three tents (available on request)

• PAT: a 4 sleeper tent (2 room split)
• BIG: a 8 sleeper military issue
• JOE: a 3 roomed dome tent

Remember to bring:

• Your own food (self-catering)
• Sleeping bags or linen
• Towels & toiletries
• Hiking gear and/or mountain bikes
• All necessary equipped and amenities required not mentioned
• Cool bags with extra ice

Terms & Conditions and Indemnity

 1.  POPI Act

 Ons Dorpshuis Guest House and Rhenosterhoek Private Bush Camp adhere to the POPI Act in order to protect our guests from harm and their right to privacy. We ensure the integrity and safekeeping of personal information in our possession or under our control. We will take steps to prevent the information being lost or damaged, or unlawfully accessed.

 2..  Proof of Identification

It is mandatory for guests to present valid photo identification at the time of check-in. According to government regulations, a valid Photo ID has to be carried by every person above the age of 18 staying at the guest house. Without original copy of valid ID the guest will not be allowed to check-in.

 3.  General Indemnity

Whilst every care has been taken by Ons Dorpshuis Guest House and Rhenosterhoek Private Bush Camp to ensure the safety of guests and their possessions whilst enjoying the private bush camp, Ons Dorpshuis Guest House, Rhenosterhoek Private Bush Camp and the owners does not accept any liability in the event that any loss or damage to persons or property is experienced by a guest and their visitors. Should any action by a guest be deemed inappropriate by Ons Dorpshuis Guest House or Rhenosterhoek Private Bush Camp, or if any inappropriate behaviour is brought to the attention, Ons Dorpshuis Guest House and Rhenosterhoek Private Bush Camp reserve the right, after the allegations have been investigated, to take action against the guest.

 4.  Right of Admission Reserved

Ons Dorpshuis Guest House and Rhenosterhoek Private Bush Camp at all times reserves the full right of admission and accepts no liability for any loss or damage that may result from the legal and reasonable exercising of such rights.

5.  Valuables,

Ons Dorpshuis Guest House and Rhenosterhoek Private Bush Camp or the owners does not accept any liability for loss of or damage to any valuables or property belonging to guests or their visitors. It is therefore the sole responsibility of all guests to make arrangements for adequate insurance coverage on all valuable items prior to arrival at Ons Dorpshuis Guest House and Rhenosterhoek Private Bush Camp. This includes but is not limited to, photographic equipment, laptops or other electronic devices, jewellery, cash and vehicles.

 6.  Loss or Damage to Ons Dorpshuis Guest House or Rhenosterhoek Private Bush Camp

Should Ons Dorpshuis Guest House or Rhenosterhoek Private Bush Camp suffer any loss or damage as a result of an act or omission by a guest or visitor of a guest, the guest will remain liable for full reimbursement of such loss or damage incurred and will be billed accordingly

7.  Parking Lot

Parking is available free of charge for all guests. We cannot accept responsibility for the loss or theft of any such articles while your car is parked on the camp site. Parking is at own risk.

 8.  Minors

Minors are the sole responsibility of the parents, guardian(s) or the person or persons in whose care they are whilst at Ons Dorpshuis Guest House and Rhenosterhoek Private Bush Camp or whilst using its facilities. Youngsters must be under adult supervision at all times.

9.  Non-Smoking

Ons Dorpshuis Guest House and Rhenosterhoek Private Bush Camp, in recognition of Health, Safety and Environment concerns, is committed to providing and maintaining a safe and healthy working environment for all its employees, visitors and nature. Smokers are invited not to smoke at the camp site or in the tents. Please use provided ashtrays and keep area cigarette free.

10.  Check In / Check Out

Registration and key collection will take place in Rustenburg at Ons Dorpshuis Guest House, 15 Christie de Wit Street. Check-in time is between 10h00 and 16h00. Please arrange with reception your check-in time. All outstanding balances are due on arrival and payable before check-in. Keys will be handed over to the guest after payment and administration at all times. The after hour number is 082 927 5097 or the onsite camp supervisor’s number – White 060 369 1629. Check-out is at 12:00 pm; later check-out is possible by arrangement only. Please leave the camp keys with the onsite camp supervisor. The cost for replacement of lost room keys or damaged locks is applicable and to be paid immediately in cash.

11.  Noise Levels

As Rhenosterhoek Private Bush Camp is situated in the Magaliesberg Biosphere, guests and their visitors are expected to show consideration by keeping noise levels to a minimum. It is not allowed to play music out of any vehicle or stereo systems. Bad behaviour and excessive noise are not tolerated; if it continues, the police will be called and the offenders evicted. If you have a complaint, please speak to Duty Manager or the onsite camp supervisor immediately.  

 12.  Extra Guests / Visitors

All extra guests or visitors must kindly report to the office or to the onsite camp supervisor, complete a visitor sign-in sheet and pay any additional costs. Additional guests will be charge at R 150.00 per person. (Camp can accommodate maximum 8 people).   Rates are valid for all children and adults.

 13.  Payment & Cancellation Policy

A 50 % deposit is required to confirm the reservation and full payment required before check-in. Email proof of payment to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. If booking is cancelled 2 days before check in before 10:00am the booking will be cancelled without penalty. If cancelled the day of the booking a penalty of 50% on the accommodation portion will be kept. In case of a NO SHOW the total outstanding balance must be paid in full. REFUNDS: In the case of a refund, an admin and banking fee charge of R100.00 will apply on all bookings. OUTSTANDING: Interest and collection fees will be charged against accounts in arrears longer than 60 days.
