This August We Celebrate!
August is a month of celebration, and we have more than one reason to smile! Not only are we proudly celebrating Women’s Month, but this year also marks 25 years of service and excellence at Ons Dorpshuis. As we reflect on this special milestone, we’re filled with gratitude for the moments, people, and partnerships that have shaped our journey.
From growing our property to growing our team, and creating a space where people feel at home, it’s been a beautiful journey.
Here are a few highlights from this memorable year so far:
February – New Heights
We launched our Dorpshuis Lofts, adding even more character to our growing of spaces.
Our CEO, Kobus, decided to return to an old passion, raising homing pigeons! Don’t worry, we’re still sticking to phone calls and emails for your bookings… but there’s something nostalgic about the idea of pigeon post, isn’t there?
March – House 12 Completed
They say opportunity doesn’t knock, it appears when you build the door. Well, we built seven of them! Our new 4-star self-catering and family units at House 12 opened in March with seven upmarket units.
The Addition of this property helped us achieve our lifelong goal to reach 100 rooms!
June – Hospitality on a Grand Scale
Since we have added Ons Koshuis some time ago, we have become known as a destination for larger groups.
We welcomed 310 rugby players from Hoërskool Nelspruit in partnership with Rustenburg High School, Franka B&B, Bambelela and Waterglen.
From accommodation to hearty meals, no group is too big (or too hungry) for us to handle!
July – From Our Kitchen to Yours
Our very own Maddie, Riaan, and the kitchen team were featured in the Herald, sharing some of their favourite homestyle recipes, from comforting spaghetti to our much-loved homemade frikadelle and famous oats bake.
Here’s to 25 Years – and the women who Inspire Us
This Women’s Month, and in the absence of a men’s month, we honour the strength, grace, and resilience of every person who has helped shape Ons Dorpshuis.
A sincere thank you to our family, our dedicated staff, all service providers and guests who’ve become like family.
