Welcome to each and every one.

We are honestly happy to have you back.

If there are any brand new visitors or guests, we trust that you will become regulars as from Today!

This week I had to deal with the breaching or breaking of our well entrenched value system.  We have always believed that nothing can beat HONESTY, TRUST, FAIRNESS and RESPECT in the race to the most worthy of VALUES.

I still believe it to be true, but don’t know how to handle the straight faced, pre-meditated confrontation by well-loved and, I thought well known acquaintances.

Is it possible that people can change so drastically?

What are all circumstances and trigger for a normal adult to change heart and behavior 360°?

Is it that predictable, or are we that naïve?

How do we face it, see it coming and find the emotional intelligence to see the big picture?

How do we rise above the waves and keep ourselves from not JUDGING?

Maybe, I have missed the book, the boat and the plot?

Please tell me, it’s not only me?

Welcome Back Everyone!!

If it’s your first time here, I trust that you will also become a well-loved regular!

There is always a first!

Many firsts are memorable, others fall through the cracks and get stored in our memory boxes, perhaps to be visited one day…unexpectedly triggered by something unforeseen.

Some firsts are planned, with meticulous planning skills where we try to create our own journeys.

How easy it is to fail in this process.

Some firsts we do not choose and we don’t see it coming!

This could go both ways unfortunately.

It could become one of the most memorable moments of your life or stored in the “GREAT SADNESS” file.

My prayer for you is that the majority of firsts and/or the next “FIRST” in your life will be one to never be forgotten, one for the “LIFE CHANGING FOR THE BETTER” file.

I am on a personal mission to find many firsts in this month in Jordan and Israel.

Good Morning, Good Afternoon or Good Evening to each and every one.

Thinking about this week brought me to a quote of Dr. David Molope,

“What is basic and simple to you…is life to those people”

How very true this is!!

We just had the privilege to spend 2 full days with beautiful girls, all currently in Secondary School.  They all attended our first Life Skills for Young Woman Workshop.

What a life changer and eye opener for ME…

To find myself thinking about how different they are, but on the other hand, how exactly the same!!

They are on a route, a circle that we have completed.  They are vulnerable, somehow excited but

mostly fearful of the future.

They deal with so many unfair and almost adult issues.

We laughed, taught them the theory of many topics and I realised again that things entrenched in me by years, and I mean years of experience and learning the hard way…they are totally clueless about.

Their sponge brains needed this.

Assistance and tips and tools to handle the uncertainties and reality of life!!

Who knows where and how soon they will have to apply any of this …maybe, just maybe these basic and simple things we would teach them will mean life in this dishonest, untrustworthy, disrespectful and unfair life.

Life that happens anyway and you can’t see it coming.

Therefore, my plea to all – Please Do, Please Share, Please Teach –

PLEASE BE THAT PERSON

Welcome Home Everyone!!

We have passed the longest night and summer is just around the corner…definitely makes me feel a little less depressed!!

Last time I thought, write about thankfulness and being grateful for things and this week I had so many instances of people with problems, a lot bigger than my, who crossed my path!

One of our guests lost her husband, one young mother needed a place to stay urgently as her situation at home became unbearable, another one of our guests battle with diabetes and an acquaintance’s husband is fighting with cancer that is spreading…

The gratefulness and being thankful message is a difficult one to promote when people are in the midst of crisis like this.

How do we pull through, how do we make ourselves get out of bed every morning?

Usually it helps to find that goal, or that forgotten bucket list item and start with something new to take the focus away from the struggles.  Find people to trust and to help you de-clutter your thoughts and life…each one of us should have stretcher bearers, to support us and help us to the bath of Bethesda when the water is stirred by the angels…

Be that stretcher bearer for someone if you are in the lucky group!

Helping someone might become a goal on its own!

Find joy in sharing, share your troubles or share a troubled soul’s burden –

But in the end…

Be thankful and grateful

Be the best you, in spite of circumstances.

Welcome Back Everyone

We have survived half of the winter and I think that the general feeling is one of gratitude.

If you were ill – be grateful for being better…

If you were not ill – be grateful for a healthy mind and body

If you are leaving your house early – be grateful for the sunrise that is there to greet you every day.

If you are traveling a lot - be grateful for protection on the roads.

If you are traveling – be grateful for a job and or on our side –

we are grateful for all new guests and returning guests.

Sometimes we get pulled into so much unfortunate day to day issues and problems and we cannot see a thing to be grateful for …

or we are just too busy to look!

My plea is, Look Again, look around you and find one thing to day to be GRATEFUL for.

Marvel in the thought and enjoy the blessing.

Make time to live!!

Steal time if you have to …

The sad thing is “if you don’t make the time to work on creating the life you want, you are eventually going to be forced to spend a lot of time dealing with a life you don’t want”

Welcome back everyone!!

We are so happy to see everyone back here at the Guesthouse after Easter break.

We hope that you enjoyed the time spent with family and friends.

And now like they will say it’s back to the grinding stone.

Have you noticed that the seasons have started changing and the mornings and evenings are getting colder and colder?

The motivation to just quickly jump out of the bed to start getting ready for work seems to be lacking as the comfort and warmth of your bed is calling you back to its sweet embrace.

Now the cold drinks and iced teas will be replaced with coffee, milo and hot chocolate and if you are looking for a quick fix please come down to our dining room, make yourself a nice

warm cup of your favourite winter drink and relax with a book from our library.

If you want to check out a book and keep it with you for your stay here with us, all you have to do is come sign the register in the Office.

You can also enjoy all the wonderful art pieces from our local artist Hannatjie Visser that we have on display in our Live Art Exhibition.  Maybe even buy one as a

Mother’s or Father’s Day gift.

So let me leave you with one of my favourite winter poems
